(wm) Since 27 July of this year MICHEL’ s ’Südosteuropa 2018/2019’ catalogue (103rd edition) is on sale. This edition offers 1,312 pages, over 18,000 illustrations and more than 73,000 price quotations. Thanks to this wealth of information and also because of the annual careful revision and updating the catalogue may be considered as an outstanding standard work of philately.
A number of attractive stamps, issued for a variety of reasons, enjoyed a high demand, which resulted in many price increases. Some of these increases are substantial, especially were it concerns the stamps of Bulgaria (2000 to 2017), Greece (until 1950), Romania and Turkey. But also in other areas price adjustments had to be made, using completely up-to-date price lists. This explains why the publisher stresses that bringing the catalogue up-to-date pricewise has been the focus of this edition of the catalogue.
Bulgaria and Romania have been the main suppliers of additional texts. In the part that covers Romania more than 60 partial perforations have been added. There are many additional illustrations where it concerns the collection area Greece.
