16.08.2017 - Multilateral Exhibition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NL)

(wm) On 25, 26 and 27 August 2017 this year’s version of the ‘Multilateral Exhibition‘ takes place in the Dutch town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In the event, organised by the Dutch Association of Philatelists, different European countries will participate. The exhibition is a highlight for stamp collectors; it will attract numerous philatelists from the Netherlands, but also from the neighboring countries. More information is available at www.multilaterale2017.nl.
Since Luxembourg will be the next country to organise this event (in 2019) it seemed a fine idea to work out the idea of a joint stamp issue for the postal administrations of the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The issue will commemorate the exhibition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
It is not the first time that identical stamp issues that are dedicated to major philatelic events appear in different countries. But this time things are a bit special: not only a Dutch and a Luxembourg version will be issued, but also a block combining the issues of both countries. Subscribers to the stamp issues of Luxembourg receive the issue even free of charge, "as a recognition of their long-term loyalty," as it is called in the pre-announcement. The block is included in the subscription delivery of Luxembourg Post and it can’t be purchased individually.
René Hillesum, editor-in-chief of the Dutch stamp magazine "Filatelie", was able to supplement the information published above. The price of the folder will be 14.95 euros. The sheets inside the folder (both the Netherlands and the Luxembourg block) are obliterated with a special first day stamp of 25 August 2017.
