15.02.2017 - Impressive Waizero Collection auctioned by Felzmann

(Düsseldorf/aw) The German auction house Felzmann is looking forward to its spring auction, that will take place from 7 until 11 March 2017. The auction will be dedicated to a true ‘Grande Dame’ in the world of East African philately: the Waizero Collection. Real connoisseurs will immediately know which philatelic highlights may be expected when this collection comes under the gavel. In the times Ethiopia was an Abyssinian imperial kingdom, ‘Waizero’ was the title for noble ladies that were part of the imperial court; the Ethiopian ruler granted this title only sparingly, on certain occasions.
As a nation, Ethiopia was able to resist colonial conquests during the entire 19th century until 1936, and the country joined the World Postal Union (UPU) in late 1908. The Waizero Collection has been set up, maintained and expanded by an accomplished collector. The collection reflects the postal history of the East African country.
Felzmann is treating the Waizero Collection with the utmost respect: it has dedicated a special auction catalogue to it. The collection will come under the hammer on 9 March 2017.
