12.10.2012 - In memoriam Götz Schneider
After a short illness the well-known German philatelist, exhibitor and juror Götz Schneider of Karlsruhe has died on 27 September 2012.

Schneider felt closely connected to certain topics and themes of philately, like the postal history of Mecklenburg. He also acted as leader of the study group Mecklenburg and he was Deputy Chairman of the ‘Association for the Promotion of the Postal History and Philately of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’. He also showed an avid interest in the philately of Liechtenstein. Among his many collection areas Classic Rumania played an important role, although he rarely exhibited this collection. As Commissioner for the Federal League of Philatelists in Baden-Württemberg, he oversaw the department of exhibitions and acted as jury chairman. From time to time he was an author as well. Not long ago, he published an article about an unusual letter from Hamburg, which he managed to connect convincingly with on of the new trends of our hobby, the so-called "social philately".
